On A Mission
Painting - Contemporary Batik On Silk W/ Black Frame & White Matte
Energized after floating in and out with the turtles and tide, I swim to deeper water to snorkel, diving down about ten feet. The water is amazingly clear--like nothing I've ever seen and I'm able to see for what feels like miles all around me.
Grabbing air as I need it I snorkel, seeing amazing creatures: yellow fish, blue fish, an orange fish, next, an eel in the distance--and then I spot her, a turtle swimming my way. Treading water in place, I try to blend into the background. No worries though, her attention is focused elsewhere and she swims by, her purple shell shimmering in the aquamarine water.
At that moment, all doubts and worries fall away and I gain perspective seeing that there is only the water, beauty, and life timelessly existing all around me.
I feel like Alice--getting smaller and smaller as all feelings of self-doubt and self-importance fall away. Instead, there is only the water, the beauty, and the life timelessly existing all around me.
