One And The Same 2
Drawing - Charcoal On Paper
With this series I hoped to make a statement about the oneness of all people. Each piece in this series is a compilation of two culturally different womens faces. This piece specifically is a compilation of an African woman's face and a Indian woman's face. This series shows the unique beauty of each culture but at the same time forces the viewers to see that all people are the same. Despite our ethnic or cultural differences we all have eyes, cheeks, noses, lips and so on. In essence, I hoped that these pieces would force viewers to see the oneness of all people and thus make a statement about racism and cultural discrimination. Being a history fanatic, the idea was rooted in the ridiculousness of war and how, in many cases, war is fought over cultural differences. But in reality we are all the same: We all have families, and friends, and jobs, and likes, and dislikes, and passions, and we all .... See, Smell, And Smile :).
