This stained glass sculpture is part of my Origami Glass Cranes.
It is an Original Derivative Design (from origami Paper), 1993. © Karen Ichino 1993. All Rights Reserved.
It is 4.5 inches wide and 6 inches high and made of iridescent clear glass. There is a small hook for hanging, or it can sit on a surface. It sells for $45.00 CA.
I love working with the Japanese red-crowned crane. The origami paper crane is based on this bird, as is the popular folk legend that goes with it - of long life, good luck, long marriage. In this case it makes an excellent gift for any occasion. "The gift of the crane wishes for the receiver a long and happy life, a happy marriage and much good luck through the years." An artist's card with the legend of the Japanese red-crowned crane accompanies the sculpture.
