I was at the beach late one night to shoot some lightning far out over the ocean. It was very peaceful with just the waves crashing and the silent lightning strikes briefly lighting up the darkness. Then a man came walking across the empty beach, heading to the stairway that I stood on. I could tell by the way he moved even in the dark that he was no threat to me. But how could I know this?
We do still possess instincts and if you can get in touch with those instincts you connect back to an ancient time...to who we used to be and where we came from. I am thinking now, of the beginning...the actual beginning of days...maybe even the very first day a man ever stood, early human history and a time when we were very much more a part of nature than we are now. When everything is quiet in the middle of the night, or just before dawn and there are no distractions of cell phones and cars. It's there...below my surface and I feel...like I have been here before.
