About The Poster: The French Line's S.S. Normandie sailed from 1935 to 1942, when it caught on fire during World War II. The lavish Art Deco liner sailed between Le Havre and New York. The ship, which is still considered the most powerful steam turbo-electric propelled passenger ship ever built, has a lasting legacy today. This booklet measures 10 x 12 when the front and back covers are combined and 23.5 x 47 when fully unfolded. It was printed in 1935 and is an English-language pamphlet advertizing the magnificent interior architecture and design of the Normandie. The booklet was designed by Herbert B. Libiszewski (1897-1985) who was a Swiss-born fashion illustrator, advertizing consultant, illustrator, painter and graphic designer, the latter activity of which he executed uner the pseudonym "Libis". Over the span of his career, Libiszewski worked for such prestigious clients as vogue and Marie-Claire. After 1941, he dedicated his talents to poster design. This brochure is in good condition with some marks of use. Please see the the photos of the unfolded brochure. For other Normandie ephemera and posters, please type "Normandie" in our portfolio search bar.
