A colorful and unusual still life featuring the infamous Habanero chili pepper and a decorative oil bottle. I wanted to pay homage to the fiery intensity of the subject.
Habaneros are among the hottest chili peppers with a Scoville rating of 100,000-350,000. If you can get past the heat you will find that the Habanero has a fruity, citrus-like flavor. This pepper is a very popular ingredient in hot sauce, spicy foods and sometimes tequila. The largest producer of the pepper is Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Mexicois also the largest consumer of the habanero. Habanero chilies accompany most dishes in the Yucatan either as a salsa or as whole peppers.
