I'm really liking the partial moons. The glow in this picture makes this moon look full, but at just 40% full, it provided just the right amount of light to illuminate the peaks without drowning out all the stars. And something about that reflected light on the cloud that adds a magical bit of night-time color to the whole scene.
This 60 second long-exposure image was taken from Loveland Pass west of Georgetown, Colorado on a really cold night - right after the pass re-opened from a winter storm closure. After confirming the temperature down at the tunnel at -14F, I guessed the temps up on the pass that night were somewhere 'round -20F. Brrrrr.....
