Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
After painting a big sky painting, I was in the mood to do a cozier scene. I explored the shore of the Indian River here near Cocoa, Florida. I found this empty area behind a church and set up my easel. It was a warm afternoon. It seemed like a perfect time to paint. However, because of the tree canopy and the short winter days, I had to go back a few days at the same hour to complete the painting. I only had about an hour of the perfect light that originally caught my attention.
While I painted, a barred owl continually flew across my view. He talked to me..."Who....who...who cooks for you?" I answered him back with the same question. I believe that nobody else could hear us but I imagine that it would probably seem like a silly sight to see me out beneath a bunch of trees painting feverishly like a mad artist and hooting with the owl.
I liked the cool blues and purples in the shade, which seemed to compliment the sparkles of sunlight dappling through the leaves. Okay....I did exaggerate the colors just a tad. Isn't that what artists do?
