Painting With Light
Digital Art - Digital Art
The basis of this image is a collection of fireworks photos taken at dusk on July 4th in my small home town. I have always been mesmerized by fireworks. I love the streaks of color firing through the night sky! And as much as I love photography, I have to say that I was torn between just enjoying the fireworks and photographing them. This one year the camera nut in me won out and I enjoyed each long exposure capturing the crayola box of colors flashing through the sky.
Later it would occur to me that these photos could be the basis for an enjoyable art project. You see, my small town fireworks display is understandably small, so what you see is multiple long exposures grafted onto one another, sort of a one shot best-of-the-night image. In a strange way, that feels appropriate to me, as if I've encapsulated the show in a single image.
And obviously, I've also taken my artistic license further and added additional layers to create a painterly feel, a sense of depth to the final cheery piece!
