Passages To The Soul V2
Digital Art - Digital Paint/collage
I have always had a fascination with the photography of doors, especially if they are unusual and unique. As a result I became fascinated with the possibility of creating my own wood like paintings to imitate a fanciful version of a door. I took it a bit further though..as I worked on my various versions :). This is the second version I am uploading and.as I was creating these images I thought of opening the doorways in our minds that lead to our thoughts, dreams, inner visions, hopes, fears and desires. Passageways so to speak to our deeper being, the being that we are all aware of but don't always acknowledge in our day to day lives. ..hence the name "Passages to the Soul".
Please open the door to enter, to observe, to meditate, and when you are done, close it softly behind you.
The idea of "soul" or inner being is common in many mythological, religious, philosophical traditions. The soul is seen as the incorporeal and, in many conceptions, immortal essence of a person, living thing, or object. According to some religions (including the Abrahamic religions in most of their forms), soulsor at least immortal souls capable of union with the divine belong only to human beings. Other religions (most notably Jainism) teach that all biological organisms have souls, and others further still that non-biological entities (such as rivers and mountains) possess souls. This latter belief is called animism.
Soul can also function as a synonym for spirit, mind psyche or self. Although the terms soul and spirit are sometimes used interchangeably, soul may denote a more worldly and less transcendent aspect of a person as soul has an affinity for negative thoughts and images, whereas spirit seeks to rise above the entanglements of life and death. The words soul and psyche can also be treated synonymously, although psyche has more physical connotations, whereas soul is connected more closely to spirituality and religion
