Esther Olson lived most of her life in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. She worked for 13 years as a cook at a diner during the night shift so that she could have money to raise her five children. She quit working at the diner after she found out that a new waitress was making the same as her (Esther had worked as a cook for 13 years). When Esther quit the dinner, it went out of business soon afterward. No one could cook and bake (or work as hard for minimum wage) as her.
