Description:

"On the Pacific coast of Washington State you are apt to see, in the summer, a migrating 'pelican on a piling' in the bays or rivers."

Artist comment: "This is a pastel painting on Canson Mi-Teintes ligthtly textured paper. First, I sketched the subject on, then proceeded to paint the background (I was intrigued by the contrast of warm against cool). The details of it's chest and pouch were a fun challenge. And, I especially like the bright mossy green on the piling.”
