The pentagram, that initially symbolized various gods of fecundity but also Aphrodite, became closely connected to nature and thus to life itself as it occurred also with the number 5. It seems logical when we realize that this certain shape is found in numerous different organic life forms like, for instance, star-fish or in the blossoms and leaves of many plants.
In ancient Greece, the pentagram was called also pentalfa. The pythagoreans considered pentalfa the symbol for perfection and used it as a sacred, mystic sign in order to identify themselves.
Each side of the pentagram is cut by two other sides according to the rule of the golden section, giving five isosceles triangles known also as "golden triangles"
