The town of Petaluma in Southern Sonoma County in Northern California has a pretty active nightlife for such a small town. So I'm guessing many people never see the town in the morning as the sun is coming up over my shoulder.
I captured this image from the base of the new footbridge that crosses the river in downtown.
At night this area would have plenty of foot traffic and would also have a number of cars parked off to the right. Getting up early in the morning allowed me to capture this area without the cars that would normally be in the foreground.
The railroad tracks in this image are no longer in use and haven't been for many years. At one time the river front was used to ship eggs off over to San Francisco along with grain and wheat that is grown in the area. Today there are still many poultry farms in the area but many of the farms that at one time grew grain and other crops are being converted over to vineyards.
