Description
By inverting one of my aerial photographs of the Philadelphia Skyline, horizontally and then vertically, I was able to combine the four images into this large format, seamless, four way mirror image. Morphing the aerials this way created geometric pattern similar to an oriental carpet, tessellation or tiling pattern. The original aerial photograph shows Center City Philadelphia with the clear blue sky reflecting off the Delaware River in the background. The mirror effect creates two skies. I have displayed this piece both horizontally, how it is oriented here and vertically. Viewers have commented, "from a distance all you see is the pattern, then upon closer inspection, buildings, rivers and an entire big city, urban landscape appears".
