My dad loved to play the piano. He learned to play classical piano in his early 20ís at the New York School of Music. When he was in the army, he played for his buddies. Compositions by Beethoven and Liszt were some of his favorites. He tried to instill in me his love for classical music. I remember permanently borrowing a cassette tape of classical piano hits. I played it to death. I would get lost in it. Yet while I do enjoy classical piano music very much, I also like other genres as well, and Iím thankful to know friends who play inspiring piano pieces with amazing excellence. Iím happy to get lost in their music. The musician in ďPianistaĒ plays on an unusual and imaginary paper scroll keyboard that twists into a fringed scarf blown by the sound of what I hope to hear and see in heaven, where the music Iím sure will be beyond transcendent!
