Description
I can see beyond the eyes of maninto the far horizon of his dreams. My soul weeps for Captain Azariah and his proud vessel, the Clipper Carrier PigeonOh, if only Id have been there. If we were to hear the lighthouse speak, this may possibly be her sad lament for the ship she was named after, after she and her robust crew neared the end of their voyage from Maine, bringing the brick that would be used for the proud lighthouses construction. Built in 1872, Pigeon Point Lighthouse marked a dangerous spot of the California coast, where ships entering San Francisco Harbor needed to make a critical course change. The massive First Order Fresnel Lens sent a powerful beam of light, far out into the dark, foreboding Pacific Ocean, from a point 148 feet above the surface of the sea. Now a modern aero beacon sends a flash that can be seen for almost 18 miles out-to-sea. Still operational, visitors are warmly welcomed to come and visit this colorful, historic California landmark.

Thanks to all of you magnificent artists. Michelle brings something to mind...Pigeon Point is the 2d Foggiest lighthouse on the west coast, nextto Old Point Loma in San Diego. I had a woman call this AM who used to live at Pigeon Point with the Copast Guard, and she said..."Finally, somebody who saw the fog!" Bless you all, you're way too kind. Jim
