Pigs The Green House A True Story
Marilyn Ponty Salzano
Painting - Pastel On Paper
When I was a little girl we had four 500 pound pigs. They were huge but gentle and would let me and my brothers ride them. But a couple times a year, when ever they felt the urge, they would go on a rampage. The pigs would group together and lean on the wooden fence surrounding their pen and break it down. When pigs that size want to go somewhere there's nothing you can do about it. Than they would run down rural Rt. #1 New Jersey and head straight for the Green House where my girlfriend lived. It was a big mystery to everyone why they only went there. I was in their kitchen one morning eating breakfast when the pigs arrived. They milled around the kitchen door grunting and squealing until my father and our neighbors herded them back home. For us kids it was an exciting and surreal experience. The little boy on the tricycle is my brother Butchie. That's my father chasing them in the background while Thor the Thunder god is orchestrating the chaos.
