Painting - Oil / Canvs
The Italian Mediterranean coastline road from Sorrento to Amalfi is part of the historic Apian Way, it has some of the most beautiful sea and landscapes in Italy, the village of Positano is virtually built on a mountain side. Cafes like Chez Black and its small beach are popular with world celebrities, ferries leave the dock for the Island of Capri and other Amalfi destinations. One can only walk the narrow streets, no cars, in fact most of the town can only be accessed by stairs or steps. I spotted what looked like a quaint cafe high on a hill side and started to climb towards it, I gave up the quest at the 172 step mark which I found later was less than the half way mark to my destination. I spent a week here overlooking the beach and wanted to paint the trellis covered walkway leading to my hotel and the lower parts of the town where the shops and beach is located.
