Nowhere do mountains take on such religious significance than in the Himalaya. These stupa and flags covered in prayers are part of a roadside temple complex in the far NW of Yunnan province on the Tibetan border. The main peak is Kawagarbo (6,740m / 22,113 ft), the highest in the Meili Snow Mountain range and in Yunnan province. It is one of the most sacred peaks in the Tibetan world.
