Praying Mantis Time For A Cleaning
Photograph - Photograph
The Praying Mantis, tenodera aridifolia sinensis also known as the Chinese Mantis, is one of the largest mantises in the mantis species, growing to lengths of approximately six inches. It is beneficial for anyone that has a garden with fruits, vegetables, plants, or flowers. The Chinese Mantis preys and feeds on other live insects that may be harmful and destructive to any garden controlling their population keeping the eco system in check. A must for any Farmer! When hungry they will stay still with their arms folded in a praying position very patiently waiting for any prey to come within range, grab them at lightning speed then eating them alive usually starting with the head of it's prey! The best way to catch these little guys is to extend your hand palm down and let them walk on the top of your hand, when doing it this way the mantis will not feel threatened and you will get to see what this creature really looks like up close! However, if you were to try picking him up, grabbing his body, there might be a chance you will get a little sting from those very sharp claws with needle like spikes, not such a good idea! Everyone should experience this wonder of Nature the way I have to realize all of God's creature's have a purpose! By the way, when I was a young boy growing up, people told me If you were caught killing this insect by a Police Officer you could get a $500.00 fine! That was 50 year's ago! I wonder what that fine would be today! I enjoyed very much photographing this live Chinese Mantis and I hope you enjoy viewing it!
