Psychedelic Tattooed Horse's Head
Painting - Watercolor Digitally Enhanced
Psychedelic Tattooed Horse's Head is a vibrantly colored version of my original, imaginative watercolor painting entitled "Painted Pony". Inked designs include a butterfly, star, flowers and partial aum or om symbols (as the nostrils) as well as many swirls and other designss or patterns on its face and flowing mane.It is set off against a mottled purple and hot pink background - resembling a starry sky.And thus the title Painted Pony - although not exactly accurate!
Aum (om) has a deep spiritual significance and meaning. It is frequently chanted repeatedly while breathing deeply and calmly. The sound of "Aum", is the sound made when all of creation came began- It is the essence of the universe and all creation, all wrapped up in one unimaginable and indescribable aggregate (for lack of a better term), is known as Brahman - which is a core belief of both Buddhism and Hinduism. Aum represents the four divine states of Brahman. The four states are metta which is loving kindness, karuna -meaning compassion, mudita - sympathetic joy, and upekkha meaning equanimity. The star represents divinity, intuition, hope and guidance, the feminine, honor and achievement. It can be said that the star guides us to find the light within ourselves. The butterfly represents transformation.and the arc above them the sun. I find it a wonderful image to look at to calm myself and meditate. (The original version is with blues and purples as the background)
'The American Paint Horse is a breed of horse that combines both the conformational characteristics of a western stock horse with a pinto spotting pattern of white and dark coat colors. Developed from a base of spotted horses with Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred bloodlines, the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) breed is now one of the fastest-growing in North America. The registry allows some non-spotted animals to be registered as "Solid Paint Bred ," and considers the American Paint Horse to be a horse breed with distinct characteristics, not merely a color breed."
A pony is a small horse(Equus ferus caballus) that is either under a certain height at the withers, or has specific temperament and conformation. There are many different breeds of ponies.Ponies often have thicker manes, tails and overall coats than other horses, as well as proportionally shorter legs, thicker necks and shorter heads with broader foreheads. The word "pony" comes from the old French poulenet, which means foal, a young, immature horse. This is not the modern meaning of pony and is inaccurate because a pony remains small when fully grown, unlike a horse foal. Sometimes PEOPLE who are not familiar with horses may confuse an adult pony with a foal.
The ancestors of most of today's ponies evolved their small stature from living on the margins of livable horse habitat. They were domesticated and bred for various purposes all over the northern hemisphere.Historically ponies were used for driving and freight transport, for recreational riding, and for children to ride.Later on ponies also became competitors and performers. A large number of ponies were used as pit ponies to haul loads of coal in the mines during the Industrial Revolution, especially in Great Britain
Ponies are usually thought of as intelligent and friendly, but are also described as stubborn or cunning on occasion. Well trained ponies are good to use for children who are learning to ride.Adults can ride larger ponies as they are quite strong for their size.
