Crocus is the first sign of spring to me. I took this image from crocus in my backyard. The colors of crocus vary from purple, lilac, yellow, white and white with light lavender stripes and they have an orange yellow; saffron. The cup-shaped, solitary, salver form flowers taper off into a narrow tube. They have grass like leaf.
Crocuses are native to woodland, scrub and meadows from sea level to alpine tundra in central and southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, on the islands of the Aegean, and across Central Asia to western China.
