Raid on the Charleston post office by a mob of anti-abolitionist in July 1835. Slavery supporters burned the abolitionist mailings under the hanging effigies of Lewis Tappan and other abolitionists. A poster offers a $50,000 reward for Lewis Tappan's, a supporter of the Amistad captives.
