Rathbone Meets The Forest Lord
Drawing - Pen And Ink, Markers, Color Pencils
This is one of 195 illustration contained in the first book of the adventure/fantasy series title "The Vine Of Hours". I am the author/illustrator. Chamberlain Rathbone agreed to meet with someone who was described to him to have great resources and a large standing army under his command. Rathbone knows that there is war in the air, and that it might be soon. The King has told him it is time to make friends and allies. Buy them, he means. Rathbone understands. He arrives at the first clandestine meeting as agreed and is promptly knocked out and kidnapped. He awakens and is released from his cramped confinement inside a large hollow cut off tree trunk and stands. To his amazement he sees he is in a small cabin, lined with all kinds of animals and creatures, some he has only read or heard about. At the far end of the room is a strange green man, holding a long shelaylee type club, seated in a chair that seems to be made of living vines, branches and tendrils, all twisted together to form a kind, of, throne. The green man's hair and beard also seem to be made of living grass, plants and tendrils. His eyes glow green and stare at him. A strange woman with birdlike features stands behind him, staring at the chamberlain arrogantly. What has he gotten himself into?
