Rays Through The Clouds
Photograph - Photograph
Looking out from an overlook along the Blue Ridge Parkway as sunlight dramatically bursts through low level mist and evergreen trees.
I was at the Pounding Mill overlook at milepost 413 just after sunset. A little bit to my left, I could see clouds moving and sweeping over mountains behind me and hanging at the level of the overlook at which I stood. The clouds continued on, rolling down the mountainside that the overlook was situated on and on to the valley below, which was filled with thick evergreens and which was being penetrated by the raking light of the low angle sun. On the way down the mountainside, the clouds would break up and fill the valley in a scattered form. This sweeping and moving from over the mountain to the valley below continued for like an assembly line for several minutes.
