Description
Recording evidence. Measurement and labelling of crime scene evidence. This evidence was found next to a murder victim. Rulers provide a scale for photographs of the bloody footprints and the label (D) is for a spent cartridge shell from a handgun found at the crime scene. Forensic investigation can help link these to the murderer. Careful notes and other photographs will be used to provide a detailed and permanent record of the crime scene. Labelling of evidence is crucial to provide what is called the chain of custody that documents what happens to a piece of evidence, from its discovery at the crime scene, to its use in a court of law.
