Painting - Acrylic On Board
I observed these stilts at Suisun Marsh, the largest continuous brackish-water marsh on the west coast and a critical component of the San Francisco Bay-Delta Estuary ecosystem. The absolute glassiness of the water was in striking contrast to the patterns created as the birds' quirky way of walking broke up the stillness. It was afternoon and slightly overcast as I studied this scene. The haze imparted a soft light, which I utilized to enhance not just the stilts but also their reflections.
