Rita's Redbird For Kevin
Painting - Acrylic On Gallery Wrapped Canvas
This painting was commissioned by Rita Sprinkles in memory of her son Kevin. This is her story:
Rita Sprinkle says;
Hello fb friends and family, i need to say thanks to a special lady who painted a smile upon my face today when i looked at her post. Barbara Samples when we first meet in grammar school all those years ago, we have both drifted many streams and rivers since school days and thanks to fb we found a new channel to keep in touch..a few months ago when i commented on her wonderful work i never dreamed she'd say yes to painting one for me..now I'd like to tell some of my story and she can truely know the meaning this painting carries..In 1992 my oldest child Kevin was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor ..he and i spent a many of months at st.judes in memphis..my baby girl was put on hold and spent to much time apart from her mother and brother..then january 1993, my Father in Heaven..took Kevin in an auto accident.which left us here broken, hurt, confused, there aren't enough words..one afternoon while i stared out my front porch window, tried of the bitterness, felt as worthless as any human could feel and sobbing..a red bird flew up to the window and just hovered there..then he began to fly back and forth as if he were talking to me through the glass..i can't describe the peace that come to my heart.there have been several situations where i knew Kevin would be missed more than others if that be possible..but just when i start to fade back to that depression In pops a red bird !! with his prettiness to say look at me I've come to let you know I'm watching mom..cheer up mom..at my daughters wedding August 16th, 2003 a little sad we were that he wouldn't be at her happy day!! He showed up, landed on the table right beside the unity candle as it was lit.the wind calmed down and the glorious sight her outdoor wedding looking over the water became even more beautiful, it was as if he approved..i adore the beauty of the red bird, and keep as many around me as possible, as a reminder God does give us everything we need, when we need it.So i want you to know Barbara .....I thank you for painting this i will treasure it's meaning always..
