Description:

Halloween is just around the corner, and I am in the spirit! My toddler was the inspiration for this piece. It was created by first drawing the face using graphite on sketch paper. I then used a Matte black finish for the background to give the illusion that the image is floating off the page. Then I used an acrylic medium to glue the drawing to the canvas. Having the drawing on a seperate paper rather than directly on the canvas, in combination with the image being in grayscale creates a sort of eerie, disconnected appearance. Then I used acrylics to paint the lion costume around the face.
