Description:

Another in my series of fire fighting paraphrenalia, this helmet belongs to a close family friend who served many years on the Chicago Fire Department. This was Rondo Scharfe's second helmet which he thinks is about 53 years old. It has seen a lot of use and has many areas of deterioration due to its age (just like Rondo himself - Just kidding). The piece is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold pressed paper.
