Room At The Wells Hotel - Montana
The Wells Hotel was the finest accommodation in the rural, mountainous gold mining boom town of Garnet, Montana. Garnet began in the 1860's and was not easy to get to then, or today. For $2 or so a night, a weary traveler got a comfortable bed, a bowl to wash up in, and I suppose that is the toilet beneath the chair. There are a dozen or more rooms. All much better than what some miners rented: a space marked out in the attic for a bed roll. But, by all accounts, the food at the hotel was good ... and community activities were held there throughout the year.
