Description:

I have worked from one of my photographic documented compositions, taken of my husband's 'home-grown' scented roses. Growing them is a rarity/novelty and hard, in our tropical environment, as the plants don't usually last past a wet and hot humid season. Their blooming glory and strong perfumed scent could not be ignored, as they were so powerful to one's senses. The work relates to a duality theme, with both the splendour and the cast shadows and have applied half warm and half cool undertones in the composition emphasizing the tonal contrasts.
