Ever since I was a very young child this corner of Royal and Orleans was my favorite place to hang out. Back in the 50's and 60's the artist would hang their work here and on Pirates Alley to the right. There are still many artists here in back of the St. Louis Cathedral. To the far left in front is the Gallery Of Rodrigue..the guy who struck it rich by doing the simple Blue Dog...many of my artist friends are jealous of him but I say power to him. I met him years ago and we had lunch together .A very nice man and great artist.. In my teen years there was a fortune teller below the orange building called the bottom of the tea cup...a little old lady would do the cards and she was remarkable....many things in my life came out exactly as she said it would 40 years later.doo doo doo doo... janis joplin lived down here for a short while and recorded Me and Bobbie Magee...thinking about her life here....enjoy the song
