UNESCO World Heritage Site: In 1981, the fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Shalimar Gardens.
Significance: The Lahore Fort is one of the most significant heritage sites of Pakistan. The fort is as valuable historically as it is precious in terms of architectural grandeur.
The different parts of the fort archeologically preserved and valued are the 'Shish Mahal', 'Moti Masjid', 'Diwan-E-Aam' and 'Hathi Per'. The fort is a masterpiece of the Mughal Era, which reached its prime during the reign of Shah Jahan. Marble palaces and mosques ornamented with mosaics and gilt are some of the charismatic features of the fort.
