Ruffed Grouse Chat
Pyrography - Woodburned And Colored With Prismacolor Pencils On Basswood
This is a picture of two ruffed grouse chatting about events of the day. It is wood burned on a basswood round and colored with PrismaColor pencils. This burn was unusual in that I challenged myself to burn something using only one point. I used only a universal point and was really stunned by the results. In fact, I was tempted to leave it uncolored, such was the success of the "experiment". But, I am still playing with my new 150 color set of PrismaColor pencils. The cloud blue of the sky is beautiful. Toward the horizon, I added lilac lavender. To the white cloud bases, I added various hues of peaches and pinks. The grouse breast started at the top with the burn only, then burn with henna, to straw, to various %'s of French gray. The feet and talons were also done in French grays to a gratifying end. If you are a nature lover or have a friend who is one, and you owe them one, this is guaranteed to please! Send me mail if you would like to see more close-up images! Love this one. Available after May 6. (Mothers Day??? ;)
