Description:

The inspiration for this painting came from the colors and layers of a small waterworn stone that my wife picked up from the Russian River in California's Sacramento Valley. It is part of my "natural abstracts" series, in which the images carry both abstract and yet very natural forms from the physical world. This fits into the body of my work as a continuing expression of the desire to look closely at the created world, all the while recognizing how its beauties and values exceed our grasp, explanation or use.
