Description:

A sea wall causing algal bloom like toxic "red tides" renders the Long Beach Harbor polluted and stagnant. The City has launched a project to reconstruct the wall so that the tides can again move freely throughout the harbor: a "Sacred Gate (Torii)" to paradise.

The quilt was inspired by the traditional Japanese Torii 10-inch quilt block and the lovely Long Beach Harbor. 2009.
