Description
Saddleback anemonefish eggs (Amphiprion polymnus). The eggs were fertilised by the male as they were laid by the female and take about 6-10 days to hatch. Anemonefish, also called clownfish, live in association with sea anemones. Slime on the fish's skin prevents the anemone's stinging cells from damaging it. The fish sleeps, evades danger, eats, and lays its eggs between the poisonous tentacles. Photographed off Sipadan, Sabah, Malaysia.
