Description
San Sergio and San Baco were during the beginning of the 4th century important military men of the Emperor Maximiano, who held them in great esteem for the military courage they held in their posts. They were martyred when it was discovered that they were Christians.
After a painful march, Baco died beaten to death. Sergio was forced to run eighteen miles with shoes that had nails in it, crossing the feet of the saint. Then he was beheaded.
For their public humiliation they made them walk the streets dressed like two women before killing them.
San Sergio and San Baco are unofficially considered as patron saints of male-male relationships, and many times American and European homosexual marriages are celebrated under their protection
by Quim Abella.
