Salvo Post Office
Photograph - Photograph
Salvo is an unincorporated community located in Dare County, NC, on Hatteras Island, part of the Outer Banks. For decades, Salvo was also known as being home to the smallest U.S. Post office ... Each Postmaster would move the post office to their front yard to deliver the mail. The building was built in 1901 and destroyed by a fire in 1992. An exact replica was rebuilt, but mail was not delivered from it again after the fire.
I have been an artist as long as I can remember. My specialty is Portraits and Pastels. I took years off from drawing knowing that one day I would return to doing what I love. I've said for many years that I wanted to retire and paint lighthouses. I have dreamed of going to the Outer Banks in NC and taking photos to work from. I made that trip for the first time in 2012 and we loved the Outer Banks so much we are planning on retiring there someday. I bought the cameras to capture images to paint from, and fell in love with photography. It has become a passion on its own. I love traveling and taking photos and hope to be a full-time photographer and artist in the near future. I love shooting weddings and private events.
