Thank you Mr. Holt. Every picture, drawing and project offers a challenge that will find satisfaction in working through the problems and creating a finished piece.

Thank You Vale Tek. This one was a fun challenge to understand the various surface textures and angles. I should make a painting, it is all moasic glass in golds and sunset colors. I like your Dreams Crash, the sail-board left on the beach.

Thank you Ms. Rossi. I love Venezia, and I hope to spend a few weeks exploring there and Ravenna in 2014. In the Basilica de San Marco there are no straight lines. The challenge was see the 'out of plumb' walls and angles but let the mosaics rule the drawing.

Outstanding artwork, this should be a winner! v,f

Ah, well. The trials and tribulations of an artist. Being one of the 109 finalists in the Hunting Art Prize 2013 competition is/was a great honour. I was in London on 4 May, the day of the Announcement Reception Gala in Houston, Texas, and could not attend. "San Marco" did not win, but it was seen by many collectors, art gallery owners, world travelers and art aficinados and some contacts have been made.

I might not win the $50k prize, but these folks really know how to put on a party! Check out last years event: www.huntingart . It has got me fired up. Sometime in March I will drive down to Houston to deliver it for the final jurying, then winner announced at the reception in April....

Added to faves, f/v. This is an OUTSTANDING piece of work. I studied many a cathedral in art history class. Your attention to detail is amazing and so well done.

Norman Bean replied:

Thank you Chris Berry. My wife and I spend many hours and days in the church walk where ever we visit. Italy has been wonderful with so many religious icons and architecture. The docents will not always let me take the time to sketch, I am not real fast, so I do what I can before being told to move along. There is an idea to draw Bernini's Ecstasy of Saint Theresa in Rome's Santa Maria della Vittoria, but the light has to be just right.

Norman! This one is truly amazing! Quite the challenge in delivering this vantage point's view. As always you have delivered amazing light and shadow, and brilliant depth to field! This one is remarkable and beautiful! F/V!

Norman Bean replied:

Thanks James. I am still 'tweeking' a few parts of this image, but that is just about what it is.
