I was contacted by a local reporter about this story he did for the news to see if by any way I got this shot from one year ago........."If you are lucky enough to live a good long life, you'll be around for 30,000 or more sunrises. I've slept through most of mine.
Sarah Platka is haunted by one particular sunrise, Aug. 17, 2011, and she is hoping someone around here photographed it.
She and her husband, Nate Weber, of South Milwaukee, had a baby that morning one year ago today, and the sunrise over Lake Michigan was so red and spectacular that it inspired the name they gave their daughter, Scarlett Lucia (Lucia means light in Italian).
"At the time, we were all engrossed in holding our newborn baby daughter. All of a sudden it hit me: Oh, my gosh! The thing that we named her after, we didn't even get a picture of it," Sarah said.
By then it was midmorning. They had a camera with them that day at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital, but forgot to aim it out the window or have Nate run outside to get a photo of the sun, which rose at 6 a.m., about 90 minutes after Scarlett was born.
Sarah has asked around and searched online for a sunrise photo, hoping to find one taken in Milwaukee or as nearby as possible on Aug. 17 last year. Aug. 16 or 18 just won't do.
So far, no luck.
"Contacting you was like my Hail Mary to the universe," Sarah told me."""" Follow this link for the rest of the story......
