Scene From Uncle Toms Cabin
Photograph - Photograph
An engraved illustration by Geroge Cruikshank of a scene from the novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by American abolitionist and author, Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1896), in which an enslaved woman is separated from her child. "The old men of the company, partly by persuasion and partly by force, loosed the poor creature's last despairing hold, and, as they led her off to her new master's wagon, strove to comfort her."
