What a sweet face. "Scout" by Debi Pople portrays Scout as a puppy. Let me capture the personality of your best friend. Commissioned pet portraits available. Contact debipople@comcast.net

Scout was named after the little girl in "To Kill a Mockingbird." Here's how we named our puppy...Our family, Mark, Jordan, Jessie and I were going to pick up our new puppy from the farm she was born on the following day. That evening, we discussed what her name would be and of course everyone had their own opinion. So we decided to play a friendly game of Gin Rummy...with the winner deciding the puppy's name. We each made a list of ten names and with each round of the card game, the winner crossed off a name from each of the lists. We came down to the final round with two names left...my choice, Lucy and Mark's, Scout (He teaches Literature). I actually won the round, but said that I would consider the final two names upon seeing the puppy in person. Once we arrived at the farm and saw our little ball of fluff covered in dirt and romping around playfully, I decided, she was definitely a little "Scout."
