Description:
THE RECYCLED ART PAINTING COLLECTION
A conscientious conservationist by nature Ferril Nawir demonstrates this awareness thru his art knowledge, experiences and skills.
He collects discarded wooden crates, recycles them and turn them into visual statements of beauty and contemplation.
Although Batik art is his forte, he also has multi art medium experiences thru out his art life. Painting is still a strong passion for him. It gives him a chance to step out of the “Batik art process mode” into something that is more tangibly controled and more “forgiving” such as with painting.
After salvaging these wooden crates he then primes the surface before he begins to paint. When the wooden crates are heavily damaged he mixes and sculpt modeling paste along its surface to cover these areas building up the layers step by step. After the desired sculptured effect is achieved he then paint the entire surface, and sometimes the sides even, with acrylic paints. Thus a sculptured painting is achieved, resurfaced from old discarded wooden crates.
The themes and images of this collection predominantly reflects his spiritual Eastern cultural background….mystical, symbolical and at times even conceptually political !
Taken from a photograph this painting was painted on recycled wooden crates with acrylics only.
Size: 16" x 26" No framing necessary as painting continues to all sides!
