Paulette, whenever I see your photos, I imagine you have a studio with perfect lighting and a team of cooperative herons (!) and props at the ready! I am so amazed by your photos, which show an amazing instinct (on your part) for timing. I hope you share your images with ornithologists (like at Cornell Lab of Ornithology) as they are not only beautiful artwork but perfect physical studies of the bird. V

Paulette Thomas replied:

Mary your comment made me so happy I was smiling from ear to ear. When I am behind the lens studying and photographing this magnificent bird, it seems as if time stand still and it is just me and the beauty of nature. The Great Blue Heron seems like, especially if I am by myself, that he is almost as intrigued by me as I am with him. He stands and poses with ease, and I know that some of the shots I get are as fleeting as the seconds it took me to push the shutter button. I feel like I have Christmas everyday when I get home and upload my pictures, they are each like tiny presents I give to myself everyday. Thank you ever so much for featuring my work, and for the support and encouragement me you give me with your kind words. Paulette
