Shifting Sands On Ocracoke Outer Banks
Painting - Painted Photograph
Blowing sands on a deserted beach on Ocracoke Island Outer Banks North Carolina on a cold winter morning. Available in painted photograph and black & white styles; 2427
This photograph was taken the day after Christmas. It was an especially cold winter day and as you can see here, the winds were blowing strong. It was hard to grab this photo because the wind was blowing toward the camera (me). I could hardly open my eyes without the sand blowing into them, and I was also worried about damage to the camera. But I thought the composition of this scene was fantastic. The deserted beach, the emptiness, nothing but the sand and the wind. It was also hard to get the picture as I wanted it, with the motion and feel of the blowing sand easily seen. The original fine art photograph was painted to the style of a painting. The black & white version is also in the style of a painted photograph.
