Description:

This little stand is just north of Deception Pass connecting Whidbey and Fildalgo Islands. The laid back look of it adds to its charm. When my father looked at this painting he said,"Why didn't you straighten the top of the sign?" I told him, being an old carpenter, he should know that they were 2 sheets of plywood, adding to their homespun beauty. Working from light to dark I wove so much color detail into the shadows of that gold tree that I thought I'd never get out of it. It was the hardest thing to paint in the whole painting.
