Description:

The first signs of spring in Southern Spain are the blossoms on the almond trees. I am currently painting a landscape with almond blossom from near my home in the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata, Almeria, which I will post when I have finished it later this week, but I have discovered that I have never posted or exhibited this pastel painting which is hanging on the wall of my living room.
I painted it ten years ago during my first spring in Spain. We then lived on the coast near Salobreņa. The views inland to the snow covered Sierra Nevada were spectacular. This scene is from the hills behind the coast were I found this grove of almonds in blossom for the foreground.
